March on Ottawa September 11th to September 15th 2008
Print this out and bring it with you if you attend this years March on Ottawa. We are experiencing something special in Ottawa. The officials we speak to also have questions that they will confide in hushed tones. Look at the permissions that they have provided us with, we have everything we asked for.
The police and other public service are on the side of truth here in Ottawa. If you see anything that is going on that is not good, please call 613-236-1222 extension 2487 and tell them what is happening.

Re: March and Information Pickets
Approval is granted for your group to conduct a march and information pickets on the sidewalks of the City of Ottawa right-of-way, subject to the following conditions:
a. The march may commence at approximately 11:00 a.m. and terminate at approximately 12:00 noon on Thursday, 11 September 2008.
b. The march route shall be restricted to the sidewalks of Wellington Street (north side) between the Supreme Court of Canada and Parliament Hill. The Police shall determine the precise parameters of the march.
c. The information pickets may commence between 11:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, 11 September 2008, Friday, 12 September 2008, Saturday, 13 September 2008, Sunday,
14 September 2008 and Monday, 15 September 2008 at the following locations:
(1) Wellington Street (north side) in front of Parliament Hill (Bank Street entrance – east and west intersections);
(2) Wellington Street (north side) between Parliaments Hill (Metcalfe Street entrance) and Fairmont Château Laurier;
(3) Laurier Avenue (south side) in front of Ottawa City Hall;
(4) Rideau Street (north side) in front of the Bay, and
d. The Police must be informed of this event. In this regard, please contact the Ottawa Police at 613-236-1222 extension 2487 to make the necessary arrangements.
e. Approval for use of Parliament Hill must be secured from Ms. Andrée Saint-Louis, Parliament Hill, at 819-934-5436.
f. Signs or banners, other than plastic foam core signs, must be made of cardboard or cloth/nylon. Plastic foam core signs must be limited to 1.0 cm in thickness, 41.0 cm in width and 61.0 cm in length. All types of signs or banners must be supported by cardboard or softwood supports no larger than 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm. These supports must not exceed 2.0 m in length. The ends of the supports must not be pointed or sharp.
g. In accordance with City of Ottawa Noise By-law 2004-253, the use of a sound reproduction or sound amplification device during a special event is permitted provided the device is operated in a reasonable manner in the context of the special event, and does not create noise likely to cause a nuisance or disturb the inhabitants of the City. In the event the device is used after 11:00 p.m., a Noise By-law Exemption is required.

h. In accordance with Subsection 2.6.3.4 of the Ontario Fire Code, open air burning is not permitted unless approved, or unless such burning consists of a small, confined fire, supervised at all times, and used to cook food on a grill or a barbecue.
i. The information pickets shall not obstruct the passage of pedestrians or block private or public accesses. The permit does not convey permission to use private property.
j. The attached Release of Claims and Waiver of Liability form must be completed and signed by a person who has signing authority within your organization.
This Special Event Permit takes effect only if we receive the completed and signed waiver form.
You are hereby served notice that this Special Event Permit is subject to summary cancellation for non-compliance with any of the permit conditions.
